About

Kohleidoscope came about when Sarah Wells Kohl got bored with basic and ill-fitting knitting patterns and decided to change things up. Never one to follow convention, she soon started designing sweaters, tank tops, bra tops, handbags, scarves, gauntlets, gloves, washcloths, koozies, leg warmers, and just about anything else you can imagine. Kohleidoscope’s expressive unique designs are almost exclusively made to order, always by Sarah’s own hands, guaranteeing that each is truly one of a kind. From subtle washcloths to soaring mohawks, there is something for everyone through the eye of Kohleidoscope.

Sarah has been knitting for 12 years and has sent her creations around the globe. Kohleidoscope items can be found throughout the United States, Tokyo, Canada, Ireland, and beyond. Sarah’s original patterns have been featured in the book KnitKnit: Profiles + Projects From Knitting’s New Wave (http://www.amazon.com/KnitKnit-Profiles-Projects-Knittings-Wave/dp/1584796316,) OzarkHandspun.com, and other knitting websites, but you won’t find the patterns for anything sold through Kohleidoscope. Each item you find here can ONLY be found through Kohleidscope.

Covered in tattoos and piercings, Sarah is not what you typically think of when you imagine a knitter. When she is not hanging out with two sticks and a string, she is a homeschooling mother of two teenage sons, 3 horse-sized dogs, and countless dust bunnies. She also is a certified yoga teacher, a certified birth doula, a certified breastfeeding educator, and a writer for Moonrunners Country, Sarahsana, and other online forums. You can find her at concerts and festivals supporting roots music, barefoot in the grass, teaching her sons how to cook without boxes and cans, or hiding out in her secret magic treehouse.
